Carnival of Money Stores #66 - Old Movie Edition

What could be better than spending the afternoon in a beautiful, restored, historic theatre watching an old movie?  I just saw The African Queen on the big screen in the historic Tennessee Theatre in Knoxville, Tennessee and it was just about the neatest thing ever.  Based solely on that I've decided to theme this carnival the Old Movie Edition and feature stills from some of my favorite old movies.

The African Queen of course!
This first batch includes my favorites!

Funny About Money reminds us that routine maintenance can save money.  She got lucky on this one!

Christian PF has an excellent article reminding us that it's never too late to get on the right road financially.

Personal Finance by the Book asks "Should you File that Insurance Claim?".  It may cost you more than you think!

Free Money Finance has some excellent advice.  Go that extra mile and it may pay off!  Sometimes you just have to make the effort!

The Philadelphia Story

Goal Setting College urges us to have a plan if we intend to be financially independent at an early age (or at any age!).

In an interesting post, Tax Return Blog gives us the history of the Inland Revenue.

Wealth Pilgram is sharing some tips for budgeting for small business success.

The Big Sleep

Richly Reasonable has a strangely hostile article about tipping. Hmmm...

My Dollar Plan takes a look at the 5 Ways the Recession has Changed Consumerism in America.  Interesting.

Taking Charge is taking a look at a Pat Bagley cartoon, which compares banks of today to banks from the past.  Pat may not know it but many small banks in small towns are still concerned about their customers!

Budget Snob reminds us to be on the lookout for investment scams.  Tough times make us even more susceptible to get rich quick schemes so look out!

The Maltese Falcon

Canadian Finance Blog is saving money at the Farmer's Market.  It's not just about the dollars and cents!

Ask Mr. Credit Card advises us to alert our credit card companies when we travel and let them know where we are going.  Evidently travel can instigate those annoying fraud alerts and letting your company know ahead of time may head one off.

Barbara Friedberg Personal Finance has some steps for how to earn extra income.

That's it folks!  If your article was even loosely written in the narrative form, in other words a "story" you made it in.  If your article didn't make it, it was not written in the narrative.  I would encourage you to submit it to one of the many other finance carnivals out there and then write a money "story" and submit it to next week's carnival, which will be hosted by The Writer's Coin.  Submit your articles here.

Be sure and link to the carnival from your site and please help advertise the carnival through whatever social networking sites you frequent.  More traffic to the carnival helps us all!

I have seen and enjoyed all of the movies you mentioned. My favorite oldie is still "Casablanca" but I have many. Am I showing my age? Hmmm.

Thanks for hosting and including my post. Greatly appreciated.

I love the old screwball comedies, e.g., "His Girl Friday" and "Bringing Up Baby." Smartly written and gorgeously filmed -- and didn't everyone look natty back then?
Thanks for including me in the carnival.
