Weekly Roundup, January 1, 2009!

(Would you believe me if I said I took this?)

Happy New Year everyone! I wish for you happiness, prosperity and peace for 2009.

Shrimp and Quail Pie appears in the Make it From Scratch carnival at the carnival’s homepage. Oh my Aching Debts published a recipe for Homemade Dishwasher Soap, which I’m going to try. It’s basically Borax & Washing Soda, which I already have from making my own laundry detergent. Funny About Money highlights a neat website where you can explore volunteer opportunities in your community.

Having a Hard Time Getting Life Insurance? appears in the 91st Carnival of Money Stories at Greener Pastures. I keep hearing that, if you are looking for a house, now is the time. Wenchypoo has found that to be a fallacy, at least in her market. She says “Santa, All I Want for Christmas is a Decent-Sized, Decent-Priced House”. Published on Christmas Eve, I wonder if she got one?

A Ripple Effect of the Mortgage Crises appears in the Money Hacks Carnival at Rich Money Life.

I had to do this one. You may remember that I posted my Buche de Noel from last year as one of my Sunday recipes a couple of weeks ago. Like Merchant Ships offered up her Little Debbie style buche. It made me laugh out loud!
