Help From My Readers...

Any ideas on how to wrap this box, which showed up on my doorstep this morning, so that it doesn't look like the 7' fishing rod it contains?!

Thanks in advance for the clever ideas I know are forthcoming!

Tough proposition. If you get two empty boxes and attach one to each end then you could wrap it up so it looks like a set of bar bells. That might take a bit of wrapping paper. Or you could Get two more boxes the same size and form a triangle. (More wrapping paper.) Then he might think he was getting a big musical instrument. Shucks! Send back the rod and buy him a tie! :)

LOL - yeah, it's a problem. Just the amount of wrapping paper is daunting. I'm seriously considering sticking it in the corner behind the tree and draping it with a light, neutral colored sheet and hoping he won't even notice it's back there! Thanks for your ideas!

That could work. Tell him it's a new curtain rod if he asks... I suppose you could also hide it and let Santa put it under the tree when he comes. Decisions, decisions!

I love your idea of draping it with a sheet. Wrapping paper won't really disguise it, and it just costs more money. A sheet can be reused, and will probably cost you nothing. Top the gift with a big bow. You could also decorate the brown box (using markers or paint) for some holiday pizazz.

@sqawkfox - you are probably right I should just decorate it and embrace the box, instead of trying to disguise it. Alternatively, I may just stick it in a closet and bring it out when we are opening gifts. That way it will be a surprise at least until I drag it out.
