Thank You Auto Zone!

I’ve been reading a lot lately about the decline of good customer service. I’ve experienced plenty of poor customer service myself and certainly gripe about it. Recently I received some excellent customer service and want to pass that along as well. Some time ago Auto Zone built a shiny new store in my little town. Auto Zone sells auto parts, something my mechanic normally takes care of for me, so I hadn’t ever shopped there. I turned my rear windshield wiper on as I was driving down the road the other morning and saw a long strip of rubber peel right off so I went to the new Auto Zone to get a replacement. The young man behind the counter looked up what I needed and went with me to the correct aisle, which contained lots and lots of wipers. In answer to his question about which brand I wanted, I asked him why it would be beneficial to me to choose a more expensive brand over a cheaper one. He showed me the brand of wiper he uses, which was the cheapest one, and said he was perfectly happy with them. I bought the wipers he recommended and, as I was leaving the store, he offered to install them for me. I’m sure I could have installed them myself but I was impressed with his willingness to do it. It only took him about five minutes but it was a nice gesture and I was grateful. That’s good customer service and I applaud it. Next time I need to buy auto parts, I’ll be going to the local Auto Zone!

Here is my very abbreviated weekly roundup –

Carnivals in which I participated -

Learning to Love Your Hot Flashes appears in the Advice for Women from Women Carnival. Check out Donna Freeman’s article, “Why you need a massage”, which appears on the Smart Spending Money Blog at MSN Money. Donna is slightly apologetic about getting a massage, which she pays for out of her “treats” fund in her budget. Don’t apologize Donna, as long as it’s in the budget, you’re covered! At The Art of Balanced Living, Lovelyn writes about the “The 29-day Giving Challenge”. I’ve been reading about this wonderful idea. After twenty-nine days, what started as a challenge will hopefully become a habit. What a nice thought!

What is Your Happiness Quotient appears in the Rich Life Carnival. I enjoyed reading David Makes Cents’ article about a business he has started selling composting worms and supplies. Regular readers of my blog know that I love my worms. David gets two thumbs up for being a college student making money (wish mine was!) and for making money with composting worms.

Good stuff you need to read –

Funny About Money writes an excellent article highlighting the bizarre new trend to label frugality as un-American in, “Is Frugality un-American?” We certainly wouldn’t want to blame, um, I don’t know, too much crazy spending??
